Albert R. Powell was born on October 23, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, to Grace Black and Albert Powell. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers.
Albert graduated from high school in Brooklyn before entering the United States Army, where he faithfully served from December 16, 1966, to December 15, 1972, receiving an honorable discharge.
Drawn to numbers and finance, Albert began his professional life in banking. He earned a Master’s Degree in Banking from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, and went on to serve as Vice President of the Investment Department at Mercantile Bank in St. Louis, MO. He later joined U.S. Bank in Clayton, MO, where he retired.
After retirement, Albert continued sharing his financial expertise with family, friends, and his church community. He served as Co-chair of the Finance Committee at First Baptist Church–Chesterfield.
In 1968, Albert married the love of his life, Earline Claybon. He embraced a loving father role to his daughter, Stephanie, who resides in Bowie, Maryland, with her husband, Steve Bradley. Albert cherished his grandchildren, Anthony “Grand Guy” and Madison “Grand Girl.”
He accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Brooklyn. After relocating to St. Louis, he became a devoted member of First Baptist Church–Chesterfield, serving with the Male Chorus Ministry and later as a Trustee.

Albert leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, his daughter and son‑in‑law, four grandchildren, two great‑grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, six sisters‑in‑law, five brothers‑in‑law, a young man he loved as a son, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbors.
