The Journey of Donita Elam Kent began On Tuesday, February 21, 1961, to the union of John Griffin Sr and Corine Nathaniel Elam. She received her education from the Tipton County School District and was a 1979 graduate of Covington High School. For over 30 years, Donita was employed with Tennalum Manufacturing in Jackson, TN as a Lab Technician.

Donita Elam Kent surrendered to her call on the 22nd day of September 2023 at the hour of 11:49 p.m. at Bridging Life Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She leaves to celebrate her life her husband Alex Kent of Brownsville, TN; 3 children: DeYeasa Traore of Woodbridge, VA; Alexis Kent of Jackson, TN; and Donitra Kent of Baltimore, MD; 3 siblings Kathleen Jackson and  Etheline Craig of both of Memphis, TN; and John (Tangie) Elam of Southaven, MS; her pride and joy- Naa Dedei Attoh, granddaughter; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, her St. Luke church family, relatives and friends.
