Earline Woodland
Maris
Apr 25, 1957 — Sep 11, 2023
On April 25, 1957, the union of Eddie "Sr" and Gladys Blackwell Woodland, with joyful hearts announced the arrival of their daughter, Earline Woodland.
Being reared in a god fearing home, Earline accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord at Canaan Grove Baptist Church where she was baptized. In her latter years, Earline relocated to Memphis, TN where she was united in fellowship with Christian Fellowship Church.
As a native of Tipton County, Earline received her education from the Tipton County School District where she was a 1975 graduate of Covington High School.
Earline met and later wed the "love of her life", Booker T. Maris. They were a blended family of 7 children whom they loved dearly; Tamiko Woodland, Ontario (LaToya) Woodland and Nedra Wright all of Memphis, TN; Kevin ( Conchita) Maris, Marcus Maris and Kelly Maris all of Memphis and Crystal Berry of Virginia.
It was at Charms Candy Factory that Earline was employed for many years. In her time of leisure, Earline enjoyed basketball, her favorite teams which included the University of Memphis, Tennessee Titans and Memphis Grizzles and she was also a fashion icon… making sure that she "was fashionably on point".
To know Earline was to love her. She was a nurturer who remembered practically everyone's birthday; she had a joyful personality and a smile that would enhance the atmosphere of any room.
On the 11th day of September, at the hour of 12:48 a,m, Earline Woodland Maris surrendered to her call at Methodist Hospital Germantown in Memphis, TN. Her forever love will continue to live in the lives of her children; 2 siblings-Thomas Blackwell of Detroit, Mi; and Velma Jackson of Mason, TN; Anthony (Shamala) Blackwell, a nephew, who was "reared as her brother"; 7 grandchildren Dar'Keela (Gerren) Stewart, Ontarius Woodland, Ke'Ara Woodland, Chris Tines, MacKenzie Tines, Erin Lewis, Kingston Wright and one great grandchild, Maliah Stewart ; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband, 5 siblings preceded her in death; Freddie Bonner, John Russell Payne, Nyoka Blackwell, Cora Woodland and Eddie Woodland, Jr.
