Gregory Dunn “Peck” Pugh entered this world on September 27, 1948, cradled in the love of his mother, Gladys Pugh Lewis, and lovingly raised by his grandparents, Norphenia and D.C. Pugh. Born in Mason, Tennessee, his life began beneath the steady prayers of a God‑fearing home. In time, he answered the call of faith, accepting Christ at Hopewell Baptist Church, where the waters of baptism marked his devotion. 

Peck grew through the halls of Tipton County schools and later pursued higher learning at Tennessee State College. His journey carried him to Philadelphia, where he planted deep roots and built a life filled with purpose. There, he met Janice Gullette—the love written into his destiny—and together they welcomed children who became the heartbeat of their home. 

In Philadelphia, he worshiped at St. Paul AME Church and served more than thirty‑three faithful years with the City of Philadelphia Water Department. His hands worked with strength, his spirit with humility, earning the respect of all who labored beside him. 

In his moments of leisure, Gregory embraced the things that stirred his spirit—softball, motorcycles, and the hum of any engine he could bring to life. His smile was easy, his presence calming, his demeanor so laid‑back it seemed he carried his own weather of serenity. 

On July 28, 2026, surrounded by the love he had poured into others, Gregory Dunn “Peck” Pugh stepped gently into his eternal rest. His legacy lives on in his devoted wife, Janice Gullette Pugh; his children David Hall (deceased), Shanice Pugh, and Victor Pugh; and the many children he welcomed into his heart with fatherly grace: Kelli DePradines, Ellis Gullette, Shawn Morgan (Simona), Robert Morgan (Kimberly), Chanel Morgan, Kia Morgan Smith (Rudolph), Pedro Caraballo, Michelle Cuevas, Tony Cuevas, Adrian Cuevas, Ada Cuevas, Elias Cuevas, Abram Cuevas, and Angel Cuevas. 

He is further cherished by his siblings Oneil Lewis, Hermon Lewis, Jean‑Claude “Larone” Lewis (Tonya), Sophenia Partlow, Carlyss Lewis, and Shawnee Lewis. Gregory will also be lovingly remembered by a host of grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever carry his gentle strength within them. His life was steady. His love was wide. His memory is a soft light that will not dim.
