Hazel "Madea"
Jones Tipton
Apr 22, 1926 — Apr 11, 2025
On April 22, 1926, in Covington, TN, Earnest Jones and Ollie Tipton Bonds joyfully welcomed their beloved daughter, Hazel D. Jones.
From an early age, Hazel accepted Christ and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church. She later became a devoted member of Shiloh CME Church, where she served faithfully.
She received her education through the Tipton County School District and later met the love of her life, Frank Bland Tipton, Sr. Together, they built a beautiful family and were blessed with twelve children: Bobby Tipton, Quenette Tipton, and Tommie Tipton, all of Mason, TN; Marilyn Tipton of Covington, TN; and eight cherished children who preceded her in passing—Frank Jr. (Mable Lou) Tipton, Charlie Tipton, Carrie Mae Strange, Lou Bertha (Alex) Price, Calvin Tipton, Nancy (Larry) Mason, Freddie Tipton, and Ollie M. Tipton.
Throughout her life, Hazel dedicated herself to various professions, making lasting impacts at Tabernacle Elementary School, Covington Manor Nursing Home, Cash & Carry for 15 years, and Covington High School for 14 years.
Affectionately known as "MaDea," she was the matriarch and pillar of the family and her community. She delighted in sewing, cooking, fishing, and dressing to perfection—always carrying herself with grace and style. "MaDea" made it clear that she was a "devoted Dallas Cowboy Fan".
For 98 years, Hazel D. Jones Tipton graced our lives with her wisdom, strength, and unwavering presence. While we mourn her passing, we do so with hearts filled with hope. After a life well lived and a battle bravely fought, she was called home on April 11, 2025, from the comfort of her residence.
Her legacy of love endures through her children, 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends, all of whom will forever hold her memory close.
