The life of Irene Ivy began on May 31, 1950, in Memphis, TN to John Jones and Tiny Ivy. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord and was baptized at Union Hill M.B. Church where she later served as an usher and former choir member.
Irene was the wife of Jimmy Whitmore. This union shared 2 beautiful children: Kenneth D. Ivy and Sharell D. Hawkins (James) both of Mason, TN; 2 grandchildren Dartavious D. Whitmore and Maliyah D. Whitmore; one great granddaughter Emersyn N. Gayden.
Medegen was where Irene was employed as a machine operator for close to 40 years before she retired. Irene could not fully retire as she continued to work various jobs including working at St. Luke M.B. Church for a few years and just recently for the election committee.
In her time of leisure, you would fine Irene gardening, cooking, collecting recipes or shopping. Nothing compared to the love that she had for her family. Known as "Rene", she was the person that you could talk to about anything and receive "truthful wisdom whether you liked it or not"….you could count on Irene-"The Problem Solver"!
In addition to her husband, dear children and grandchildren, Irene Ivy Whitmore, leaves 4 siblings- Jacklyn Kimble of Memphis, Kenneth (Teri) Jones of Memphis and Steve (Kathra) Jones of Memphis and Jerene Lattimore (Ron) of Phenix, AL., others who called her "sister", host of brothers and sisters-n- laws, aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Irene in death are her parents and 5 siblings - Bonnie Jones, Juelstene Hollowell, Janice Laverne Jones, Rome Jones and L. J. Jones.
