Jannie Mae
Williams
Nov 15, 1954 — Apr 20, 2025
Jannie Mae Williams was born in Stanton, TN to Melvin Lewis Byars and Mary Rebecca Harris on November 15, 1954.
She was a member of Greenleaf Community Church. Jannie was a graduate of Haywood High School in Brownsville, TN Class of 1976. During her lifetime, she was employed with Tabernacle Elementary School where she was a cook and at Intercraft in the Packing Department.
To know Jannie was to love her. She was a "no nonsense" kind of woman who loved family, cooking and she was known for her "green thumb". Jannie could revive or grow mostly anything.
Jannie fought a good fight throughout her illness. On the 20th day of April 2025, Jannie departed this life at Methodist Health Care North in Memphis, TN. She leaves to cherish her life and memories 10 sisters; Beatrice Hughes and Odessa Harris both of Buffalo, NY: Ethel Lee Walker, Arethria (Barry) Turner and Adrin Byars all of Brownsville, TN; Rochell Byars and LaTasha Blackmon of Dyersburg, TN; Lisa Williams of Ripley, TN; Rita Byars of Halls, TN and Carolyn Maclin of Decatur, IL; 10 brothers- Ernest Harris, Jr., Ronnie (Vickie) Byars and Tony (Valarie) Byars all of Brownsville, TN; Leon Harris of Mason, TN; Melvin Byars; William (Belinda) Harris, Melvin (Cindy) Harris; Eugene (Gwen) Harris and Earl Harris all of Jackson, TN; and James Byars of Chicago, IL.
In addition to her parents, 5 siblings preceded her in death- Johnny Byars, Sherry Byars-Tyus, Jimmy (Betty) Byars, Gwendolyn Toomes and Andrew Byars.
