Jessie Lee Williams was born in Mason, Tennessee, on June 20, 1955, to the union of Ezell Williams, Sr., and Mollie Whiteside Williams.

Jessie was reared in a God-fearing home along with his twelve siblings: Robert L. Williams, Jimmy L.

Williams, Earnestine Rayford, Dora M. Taylor, Bobbie J. Williams, Idell Williams, Dorsey Spencer and

the late Thomas J. Williams, Ezell Williams, James Williams and Joe L. Williams.

His spiritual journey began at an early age at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized.

Jessie received his education through the Fayette County School District and was a proud 1974 graduate of Fayette Ware High School. He continued his education at Tennessee State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1978.

His love for history extended beyond the classroom. Jessie developed a deep appreciation for the legacy and brotherhood of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, and proudly became a member of the organization. Among his fraternity brothers, he was affectionately known as “8 Left Feet,” a humorous nickname that reflected his legendary lack of dancing skills and the joy he brought to those around him.

During his college years, Jessie became known as a true bridge builder. He opened his home to fellow Tennessee State University students, providing them with support, encouragement, fellowship, and a place where they could feel welcomed and valued. He also shared his love of sports by coaching in the intramural basketball league.

Jessie had a personality all his own. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and could always be counted on to share his opinions about his favorite team. When it came to automobiles, he had one firm belief: “If you weren’t driving a Honda, you weren’t driving nothing.” His humor, strong opinions, and unmistakable personality were just a few of the qualities that made Jessie uniquely Jessie.

In 1979, Jessie found true love and was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Taylor. Although no children were born to their union, their marriage was filled with love, laughter, companionship, and treasured memories. Dorothy preceded him in death in 2003, leaving Jessie to carry the memories of the life and love they shared.

Professionally, Jessie served faithfully as an Environmental Service Technician with Compass USA in Memphis, Tennessee. He approached his work with dedication and responsibility, leaving an impression on those who had the opportunity to know and work alongside him.

Without warning and without a final farewell, Jessie entered eternal rest at his residence. Though his departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, his memory will continue to live through the lives he touched.

Jessie leaves to cherish his memory seven siblings, two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, fraternity brothers, and dear friends.
