John Louis Johnson completed his earthly journey on June 8, 2026, at his home in Mason, Tennessee. He was born on August 15, 1955, to Will Yarbrough and Mary Johnson in Somerville, TN. At a young age, John accepted Christ at Salem MB Church in Mason, where he remained a faithful member throughout his life. When able, he served diligently with the Usher Board, Deacon Ministry, and the Christian Aid Male Chorus Ministry.A 1974 graduate of Covington High School, John later met and married the love of his life, Deborah Boyland, on July 29, 1991. Their union was blessed to share two children, four grandchildren, and four great‑grandchildren. Throughout his career, he worked with Topps in Covington, Arlington Development Center, Flintco Construction, and the University of Memphis as a Maintenance Technician, where he eventually retired. In his later years, John embraced agricultural entrepreneurship and enjoyed farming.He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 34 years, Deborah Boyland Johnson; his sons Travis (Patricia) Johnson of Lexington, SC, and Brian Johnson of Millington, TN; his beloved grandchildren Da’Shun Wynn, Ariel Johnson, Tra’ Johnson, and the late Christian Johnson; and his great‑grandchildren Jeico Sanchez‑Arias, Dekarai Wynn, Yarmari Wynn, and Romari Wynn.
John is also remembered by his siblings Josephine Gwinn of St. Louis, MO; Will (Sandy) Yarbrough, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; and Joe Johnson of Covington, TN; along with many brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is reunited in eternal rest with his parents, two siblings Rosie Wilson & Ernestine Yarbrough, one grandchild, his mother and father ‑in‑law, Richard Frank and Dorothy Taylor Boyland, and sisters‑in‑law, Valoria Shelton, Edna Mitchell, and Joyce Etta Boyland.
