Joseph Sherman Hines, III was born in Shelby County to the union of the late Joseph S. Hines, Jr. and Linnie Bell Crawford Hines.
Reared in a home grounded in faith, Joseph accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Belmont Baptist Church in Arlington, Tennessee.
Known affectionately as "Rabbit" to those closest to him, he graduated from Bolton High School in 1975. He built a long and respected career in Quality Control at Kellogg's, where he worked with dedication until his retirement.
On the evening of August 13, 2025, at 6:04 p.m., the final chapter of Joseph Sherman Hines, III's earthly journey was gently closed.
Joseph was a devoted husband to Iris Lenora Hennings, and together they were blessed with a blended family of five children: Sciago (Rosalind) Winston of Memphis, Desmond Hines, Joy Hines (DeMario) Taylor of Cordova, Jordan Hines of Cordova, and Jalen Hines of Cordova. Joseph was a brother to Bobby (Betty) Crawford of Memphis, Tennessee, He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, each of whom brought light and laughter into his life.
Joseph was unwavering in his love and leadership as a prayer warrior, a steadfast provider, and a man of conviction—always speaking truth with clarity and heart.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers Barry Hines, Russell Hines, and John Hines. Family was the foundation of his life, and countless uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and extended relatives who will forever hold dear the memories they shared with him.
