The life of Larry Darnell Jackson began in Covington, Tennessee, where he was born to General and Essie Lou Harvey Jackson.  Larry accepted Christ as his personal Savior and Lord at Mt. Tipton C.M.E. Church. He was educated in the Tipton County School District and was a 1972 graduate of George R. Ellis High School in Munford, Tennessee. He later continued his education at Southwest Community College, further shaping the direction of his life.

Larry devoted many years of hard work to Jones Textile Company in Humboldt, Tennessee. Affectionately known as a "workaholic," he took immense pride in providing for those he loved. Even so, he cherished life's simple joys—whether he was hunting, tinkering with cars or tractors, or enjoying a sweet, ripe watermelon.

On January 15, 2026, Larry answered his call at Lauderdale Community Hospital in Ripley, Tennessee.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory nine children: Calvin (Angela) Davis of Memphis, TN; Dameian Dowell of Covington, TN; LaQuincy Davis of Memphis, TN; Markee Bluitt of Huntsville, AL; Terrance Jackson of Harvest, AL; Rena Barbee (Patrick Currie) of Covington, TN; Robin (Demetric) Currie of Halls, TN; Temika Jackson of Covington, TN; and Johnetta Hall of Memphis, TN.

He is also survived by three beloved siblings: Evelyn Hall of Memphis, TN; and Sandra (Eric) Russell and Teresa Jackson, both of Mason, TN. Larry was a proud grandfather to three generations of grandchildren and is remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Larry Darnell Jackson was preceded in death by his siblings Dannie Jackson, Etta Ruth Taylor, Fannie Brown, and Marjorie Barbee, as well as his son, Christopher Jackson.
