Lawrence
Sherfield
Aug 4, 1959 — Jul 11, 2025
With profound gratitude and joy, Lawrence Edward and Georgia Mae Bratcher Sherfield welcomed their beloved son, Lawrence Curtis Sherfield—a radiant blessing whose arrival filled their lives with light. Raised in a home rooted in faith, Curtis embraced Christ early in life and confirmed his devotion through baptism at Poplar Spring M.B. Church in Gallaway, Tennessee. As he grew, his commitment to his spiritual walk remained unwavering, later leading him to serve faithfully in the Usher Ministry at Christ M.B. Church in Memphis.
Affectionately known as "Curtis" by those who knew him best, he was educated in the Shelby County School District and was formerly employed with Castle Retail Group and Kroger, where he built a reputation for diligence and integrity.
To meet Curtis was to encounter joy. His spirited wit, warm charm, and magnetic personality made every space brighter. He wore his humor and pride with grace, and his signature "honorary" flair left an unforgettable impression wherever he went.
On July 11, 2025, Curtis peacefully answered his final call at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, TN. Though he leaves behind no children, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he cherished—especially his devoted brother, Ricky Anthony Sherfield of Memphis, TN; loving aunts Barbara J. Bratcher and Evelyn Giles-Perry of Somerville, TN and Bettie (George) Brooks of Collierville, TN ; niece Christina Sherfield-Grandy of North Carolina; nephews Ricky A. (Laura) Sherfield and Eric A. Sherfield of Memphis, TN ; along with a host of extended family and treasured friends who celebrate his beautiful life and profound memories.
Curtis now rests in peace, reunited with his parents and his brother, William Edward Sherfield, who preceded him in death.
