Obituary

Without warning and without a final farewell, Mae Lois Hicks peacefully departed this life on December 30, 2025, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mae was the cherished daughter of Charles E. and Henretta Terry Hicks. Being reared in a God-fearing home, she was baptized at Hopewell M.B. Church, where she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord. In adulthood, she later united with Transformation Worship Center in Braden, Tennessee, under the leadership of Pastor David Brown.

A proud Tipton County native, Mae received her education through the Tipton County School District in Covington, Tennessee, and graduated from Covington High School. She was formerly employed as an operator with Medegen Medical Products (formerly Vollrath) in Gallaway, Tennessee.

Mae leaves to forever cherish her memory two sons: Timmy (Sha'Von) Smith of Brownsville, Tennessee, and Mario Smith of Memphis, Tennessee. She is also survived by her siblings: Larry (the late Doll Hall) Hicks of Oakland, Tennessee; Melvin Hicks of Henning, Tennessee; Earskin (Precious) Hicks of Detroit, Michigan; James L. (Wanda J.) Hicks of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Norma Jean Hicks and Earline Taylor, both of Covington, Tennessee.

Mae was a proud grandmother of five grandchildren. She also leaves behind one aunt, T. L. Logan, and one uncle, Edward Logan, both of Chicago, Illinois; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who loved her deeply.

She was preceded in death by six siblings: Alfreda Hicks, Charles Terry (Peggy Smith Hicks), Sylvester Hicks, Robert Lewis Hicks, Clyde Hicks, and Nathaniel Hicks.
