Obituary

Margie Woods journey began on February 19, 1944, born to Eli Bonner, Sr. and Ida Mae Brewer Bonner.

Without warning or a final farewell, at 8:03 a.m. on November 12, 2025, our beloved Margie Marie Bonner Woods peacefully departed this life in Mason, Tennessee.

Being reared in a God-fearing home, she embraced Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Tucker's Chapel (currently Williamson Chapel Church), where she remained a devoted member throughout her life.

Margie received her early education from the W. P. Ware Training Center in Fayette County Public Schools and later pursued higher learning at Lemoyne Owens College. She finished college courses through State Tech, which allowed her to complete an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Margie was driven by a deep desire to grow and learn, which she passed on to her children.

She dedicated over 30 years of service to the John Wilder Youth Development Center, where she worked as a Corrections Officer, Corrections Sergeant, and Corrections Administrative Lieutenant.

Margie shared a 20-year union with James A. Woods, Sr., who preceded her in death. This union brought forth the gift of nine children who will continue to honor her memory: Karl (Barbara) Woods of Somerville, Tennessee, Warren Woods of Huntsville, Alabama, Lois Marie Woods, who preceded her in death, Lora Woods of Millington, Tennessee; James, Jr. (Amanda) Woods of Brownsville, Tennessee, Christine Woods of Mason, Tennessee, Melba Woods of Bartlett, Tennessee, Cynthia Woods of Atoka, Tennessee, and Charles (Stacy) Woods of Jackson, Tennessee.

In addition to her children, Margie M. Bonner Woods leaves to celebrate her life: four siblings: Eli Bonner, Jr., and Hertha Bailey, both of Chicago, Illinois, Mattie Tyson of Somerville, Tennessee, George (Cynthia) Bonner of Mason, Tennessee and sister in law, Ernestine Bonner of Mason, Tennessee.

Margie was the grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; the aunt to a host of nieces and nephews; and was blessed to share in the lives of many relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death includes her parents; one grandson, Tony Woods-Boyland; and four siblings: Lilton (Earnestine) Bonner, Floyd Bonner, Sr., Warren Bonner, and Ida Louvenia Bonner and two brother in laws, Leroy Bailey and JC Wilson.
