Obituary

Marilyn Taylor was born on September 24, 1966, to the union of the late Russell Taylor, Sr., and Laura Mae Matthews Taylor. Reared  in a God-fearing home, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and publicly affirmed her faith through baptism at Cedar Grove M.B. Church. With a heart devoted to service, Marilyn remained a faithful member throughout her life, dedicating her time to the Culinary Ministry and assisting wherever she was needed.

Marilyn received her education through the Tipton County School District and graduated from Covington High School in 1984. She furthered her studies in accounting at Covington Vocational & ITechnology School  .
She found her soulmate in Eric Douglas, and on October 22, 1988, they were united in marriage. Their loving union was blessed with a son, Raheem E. Douglas.

Throughout her lifetime, Marilyn worked in various roles, including as a bail bondsman for Keeley Bail Bonds Company, substitute teacher for the Tipton County Board of Education, and customer service representative at ASI Call Center. However, she was best known as a talented Hair Care Specialist and co-owner of M & E Beauty and Barber, where she and her husband worked side by side.

Without warning or a final farewell, our beloved Marilyn Elaine Taylor Douglas departed this life on January 30, 2025, at 6:35 p.m. She leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished by her devoted husband of 36 years, Eric Douglas; her son, Raheem Etienne (Kacey) Douglas: and Mario Butler, whom she raised as her own. She is also remembered by her three stepchildren—Eric Douglas, Jr., and Angela (Gerald) Smith, and LaTanglia Douglas —as well as her goddaughter, Ranee Thompson, and two godsons, Christopher and Marchello Thompson.

Marilyn's memory lives on in her seven siblings: Pauline (Robert) Jones and Patria (Arthur) Burrell, Teresa Morgan, Brenda Pope ; Minister Daniel Taylor, Robert (Margaret) Taylor and Lee Anthony Taylor; two beloved grandchildren, Kaydance and MicKenzie Douglas; sisters and brothers-n-law; Vernita (Robert) Jones, Linda (Bobby) Jones and Ruby Douglas: Maurice Douglas ; dear friends Helen McBride and Mary Thompson; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will forever cherish the moments they shared with her.
