On September 18, 2024 Marvel Matthews Maclin surrendered to her call at her residence in Mason, TN.

Marvel Matthews was born on December 25, 1947 in Mason, TN to the union of the late Russell Taylor, Sr. and Laura Mae Matthews Taylor. She professed Christ as her personal Savior and Lord at a young age and it was confirmed through baptism at Cedar Grove MB Church.

Her education was obtained through the Tipton County School District where she was a 1965 graduate of Gailor High School being Valedictorian of her class.  After graduation, Marvel moved to Gary Indiana where she resided from 1965-1969.

While in Gary, Indiana, she met Early Reed and they were blessed with twin sons. Michael and Mitchell Matthews.
In 1969, she and her sons returned to her humble beginnings in Mason, TN.

Marvel wed Walter "Bo" Clarance Maclin Jr. on May 22, 1988. Although no children were born to this union, Walter loved her sons as though they were his very own.

Marvel Matthews Maclin leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband Walter "Bo" Maclin, Jr. of Mason, TN: 1 son Pastor Mitchell (Connie) Matthews of Ripley, TN; 8 siblings- Pauline (Robert) Jones and Patria (Arthur) Burrell both of Mason, TN; Teresa Morgan of Brighton, TN; Brenda Pope of Memphis, TN: Marilyn (Eric) Douglas and Minister Daniel Taylor both of Mason, TN; Robert (Margaret) Taylor of Oakland, TN and Lee Anthony Taylor of Mason, TN; 2 grandchildren- Miquel Matthews and Tadara S. Matthews and a God-son that she reared as her very own G'Andre "Boukie" Fields; 2 Aunts-  Mary Maclin and Ellen Matthews of Gary, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were parents, Russell and Laura Mae Taylor;  1 son Micheal Matthews;  2 siblings-Paul Taylor and Russell L. Taylor, Jr.
