Obituary

Mary Elaine Taylor Fayne was born on June 13, 1952, in Covington, Tennessee, to Curtis and Velma Taylor-Fayne. She later embraced her faith and was baptized under the leadership of Bishop Richard Smith of  Greater Grace Temple Apostolic Church.

Mary's educational journey was completed within the Tipton County School District, concluding at Frazier High Alumni School in Covington. She began her employment journey by establishing her own house-cleaning service before becoming a custodian at World Color Press in Covington, TN.

A proud "true Gemini," Mary was known for her unapologetic, candid nature. She always spoke her mind, never holding back, regardless of how her words might be received. Her honesty and straightforwardness were a hallmark of her character—Mary was always going to keep it real.

Many knew her as "MaryLane," and she was the heart and soul of any gathering, spreading joy, love, and laughter wherever she went. Outside of her social life, Mary had a passion for cooking and was known for engaging in lively conversations, often with playful banter. Above all, her love for her family was immeasurable.

On March 4, 2025, Mary Elaine Taylor Fayne peacefully passed away at Baptist Hospital Desoto in Southaven, Mississippi. She leaves behind four children: Yolanda Mabin of Covington, TN; Eric Fayne and Robert Fayne of Milwaukee, WI; and Mark Fayne of Ripley, TN. She is also survived by four siblings: Clarence (Maurine) Fayne, Clay (Thelma) Fayne, Charles (Christine) Fayne, and Charlene (Johnny) Glass, all of Covington, TN; two sisters-in-law, Flora Fayne and Beatrice Fayne; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her.
