Obituary

Mary M. Maclin Hodge passed away suddenly on November 22, 2025, at her home.

Born in Mason, Tennessee to Rosead Maclin and Arthur Mae Maclin, she accepted Christ at Fredonia Baptist Church where she was baptized.

A proud Fayette County native, Mary began her education in the local school district. In the 1960s, she moved to Mt. Vernon, New York to pursue greater educational and career opportunities, fulfilling her desire of becoming a nurse. Years later, Mary returned to her humble beginnings in Tennessee.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her three devoted sons, Clarence Maclin of Bronx, New York; Kenneth Middlebrook (aka Kenneth Maclin) of Memphis, Tennessee; and Cory (aka Corey) Hodge of Memphis, Tennessee;  five siblings: Arthur Hall of Buffalo, New York; Saul (Vicky) Whitley and Gloria Whitley both of Mason, Tennessee; Pastor Robert (Carol) Whitley of Somerville, Tennessee; and Paul Whitley of Arkansas.

She also leaves eight beloved grandchildren—Clarence E. Maclin, Jr., Yashica Kearse Maclin, Domquie Hodge, Kasheem Middlebrook, Kenisha Middlebrook, De'Asia Middlebrook, Divine Middlebrook, and Donte Middlebrook—along with eight great grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, preceding Mary in death includes CJ "Wolf" Whitley, Charlene Shipes, Rosed Maclin, Jr., Pauline Richardson and Anthony Clark.
