Without warning or a final farewell, on May 6, 2026, our beloved Warren Keith Woods peacefully departed this life in Toney, Alabama. His unwavering love, radiant spirit, and enduring legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Warren’s journey began on March 8, 1964, born to James Sr. and Margie Bonner Woods. Raised in a God‑fearing home, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Pulliam Chapel Church. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

He received his early education at Central Elementary and later graduated from Fayette Ware High School. Warren went on to pursue higher learning at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he earned a degree in aerospace engineering.

Beginning his career with NASA in the 1980s, Warren dedicated 40 years to the agency as an Aerospace Engineer, contributing to advancements in space and space flight in Huntsville, Alabama. His commitment to service extended far beyond his professional achievements. He served as a Boy Scout leader and volunteered with the Combined Federal Campaign Wheelchair Ramp Build, SPIE SMA, and CASA—Care Assurance System for the Aging and Homebound of Madison County, through the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville.

Warren mentored countless young people through the Big Brother Big Sister Program in Huntsville. His passion for education, especially in the fields of space and space flight, inspired him to teach and encourage students from kindergarten through 12th grade. For more than 30 years, he poured his heart and knowledge into young minds, many of whom went on to earn master’s degrees and become aerospace engineers themselves.

Affectionately known as “Wecchie,” Warren found joy in photography and the wonders of the galaxy. He traveled across the United States capturing the beauty of nature and the marvels of the solar system. With a remarkable eye for detail, he took thousands of photos celebrating God’s creation. He shared a special bond with his mother, Margie, and together they spent countless hours admiring birds, flowers, and the splendor of the natural world. It brings comfort to know that Warren can now once again cherish the beauty of creation, sharing those precious moments alongside his beloved mother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Margie Bonner Woods; his sister, Lois Marie Woods; and his nephew, Tony Woods.

Warren leaves to cherish his memory three brothers—Karl Woods of Somerville, TN; James Woods Jr. (Amanda) of Brownsville, TN; and Charles Woods Sr. (Stacy) of Jackson, TN—and four sisters: Lois Marie Woods of Millington, TN; Christine Woods of Mason, TN; Melba Woods of Bartlett, TN; and Cynthia Woods of Atoka, TN.

He was also a brother to six half‑sisters: Queen Woods and Yolanda Woods of North Carolina; Chrissy Woods of Somerville, TN; and Shureese Woods, Patrese Woods, and Jamie Woods, all of Jackson, TN. Warren leaves behind two uncles—Eli Bonner Jr. of Chicago, IL, and George (Cynthia) Bonner of Mason, TN—and three aunts: Hertha Bailey of Chicago, IL; Renee Woods of Memphis, TN; and Mattie Tyson of Somerville, TN. He is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and the “children” he lovingly reared as his own: TeAmber Marie and Dewayne Fletcher, Mark Obiyo Ibekwe of Huntsville, AL, and the late Daniel Short.
